A Fourth of July Eye Look Even YOU Can Do

The 4th is coming up, and that means hot dogs, beer, and ill-fated injuries from fireworks (I told you it was a bad idea to shotgun then light things on fire Dave). You probably want a beauty look that isn’t just red lipstick that will end up more cracked than your hopes and dreams. Look, it’s hot out. You don’t want to be wearing your entire makeup bag on your face just for the sake of Instagram, or maybe you’re a masochist and you do, we don’t know your life. So, we came up with a brief makeup tutorial centered around an easy eye look that even YOU can do while semi-drunk.

First things first, get rid of those dark circles under your eyes. Our model (Libby’s sister Peggy) has the same (! shocking) skin type and tone as Libby, which is very pale and very dry (cute we know). So we opted for Glossier’s Stretch Concealer in light, because it’s hydrating and does a good job. Then we evened out Peggy’s skin tone with a little matte powder since we don’t want to seem as red as the Montana electoral college map.

Second, we put a little of Lipstick Queen’s Hello Sailor lipstick on Peggy’s lips. It looks blue, but it doesn’t really go on like that. OMG Science!!!!!!

Now onto the Disney star of this look- the eyes. A little flaky and hard to work with, but management can always pull through. We put the shade Maui Wowie from the inner corner of the lid to the center. It’s really bright gold, you know, like all the medals we win at the Olympics. Then, you’ll want to take a light blue shadow, we used Shattered (yes I know it’s hard to read the color names because I’m a human and I’M MESSY SOMETIMES OKAY?!) from the outer corner and blended in towards the center, kinda to create a gradient effect. Or- like a little peacock, like what you, will be doing while flirting with Dave (pre-firework injury).

To finish things off (not Dave because you had to send him to the hospital) you line the bottom waterline with a bright gold eyeliner and draw a thin line with black eyeliner on your top lid as well. Finish off with some waterproof mascara so you can survive those peer pressured drunk-a-roos and you’ll shine brighter than all the ambulance lights that will pass your street as the night goes on!
